A group of German soldiers, separated from their company during battle, look for shelter in a remote village in the Ukraine. To their surprise, the villagers, comprised mainly of women and children, welcome them as their saviors from the impending deportation by the Russians. As the two parties develop a bond, seeds of mistrust grow from within, leading to a deadly confrontation.
