Sanctuary is the sixth studio album from Evanescence, set to be released on June 5, 2026. The album follows The Bitter Truth (2021) and marks the band’s return after more than three years of production. The album was announced alongside its lead single, “Who Will You Follow,” which was co-written and produced by Zakk Cervini and Jordan Fish. The track introduces a modernized sound for the band, incorporating contemporary production elements while maintaining the dramatic and atmospheric identity that defines Evanescence. According to Amy Lee, Sanctuary was shaped during an intense creative period, taking over three years to complete. She described the process as emotionally overwhelming, stating that working on the album helped her cope with feelings of instability and find hope through music. “Who Will You Follow” serves as the first glimpse into the album’s sonic direction, blending heavy instrumentation with electronic textures and layered production. The involvement of producers known for working with modern rock and metal acts suggests a more contemporary and expansive sound compared to previous releases. The album is expected to include “Afterlife,” a track originally released in 2025 as part of the Devil May Cry series, now incorporated into the album’s tracklist. Described by the band as a project they are “proud of every second,” Sanctuary represents both a continuation and an evolution of Evanescence’s sound, combining their signature emotional weight with modern production and a broader creative scope.
