After a break of eight years between studio albums, Sade delivered their fifth album, Lovers Rock, in November 2000 through Epic Records. The album featured an evolution of the Sade sound, but didn't disappoint, replicating the success the group had previously enjoyed in the US, and achieving triple platinum status, having sold 3,9 million copies in the United States. The album reached number eighteen on the UK Albums Chart and number three on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2002 ceremony on 27 February. According to the booklet, the track "The Sweetest Gift" is dedicated to the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity caring for children who have a life-threatening or terminal illness and their families, both in their own homes and at the Trust's two UK family respite centers.
